SUMMER PROGRAM
ABOUT
TeenWorks offers teens summer employment in high-demand fields to expand their horizons and help them take a first step into the adult world. Working in groups of 10-13 under the guidance of a TeenWorks seasonal supervisor, our teens work at nonprofit organizations in Anderson, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, and Muncie. Their responsibilities include community farming, park beautification, school clean outs and more.
During the 6-week program, teens also have a day of professional skills development training each week. Topics covered include financial literacy, resume writing, and professional etiquette and communication. Additionally, through the summer, teens develop self-knowledge through a personality and interest survey tool, visit college campuses, participate in a robust day of mock interviews, and network with a variety of professionals from the community who share with them their career paths.

We strive to provide work experiences related to a variety of careers, so each TeenWorks team works at a different community-based site. Regardless of each teen’s daily work, all TeenWorks worksites are with another local non-profit, where teens can learn more about their community and contribute to the greater good. We do our best to match each teen’s interests with their worksite placement, where some teams address food production and distribution while others provide summer enrichment to young children, work on environmental management projects, or build community through art, home renovation, or wellness programs.
